Hello, and welcome to another installment of Super Smash Sundays! In these journal entries, I will give you all a taste every week of what I have planned for my dream game, Super Smash Bros. Melee: Masterpiece Edition. Without further ado, lets's go!

Character Highlight: Link

First appearance: The Legend of Zelda (1986)
Voice clips: same set from Melee, along with new voice clips from Ocarina of Time
In-game appearance: looks just like he does in Ocarina of Time 3D, but with an HD touch-up to match with the rest of the game

The green-capped Hero of Time is back to show just why he has earned that title. All those tools and weapons he carries may slow him down, but they give him a multitude of options on how to approach his enemy. His Master Sword has good range, and his bombs and boomerang allow him to start up combos. Not to mention his recovery options are so good, it makes him hard to edgeguard. He is still a bit laggy here & there, though, so be sure you take advantage of that when facing him.

Specials:
Neutral Special: Bow
Side Special: Boomerang
Up Special: Spin Attack
Down Special: Bomb
Final Smash: Triforce Slash

Notable Custom Specials:
Neutral Special: Mini Light Arrows (stuns enemies, but takes longer to charge)
Side Special: Gale Boomerang (creates a windbox on the way back, but it's less powerful, and it doesn't travel as far)

Up Taunt: swings his sword twice before putting it in it's sheath
Side Taunt: puts up his sword and shield to wipe his forehead like in the original Melee
Down Taunt: enters a combat position that's identical to his taunt in Super Smash Bros.

Notable changes:
- Removed infinite jab
- Transition lag between jabs have slightly increased, but not enough to make a competitive difference
+ Spin Attack can now be charged
o New Spin Attack animation resembling the one from Smash 4
+ Bombs no longer damage Link when they hit enemies
+ Shield is now always facing his general direction, no matter what, fully protecting him from projectiles coming from the front

Alts:
Green: default
Red: Goron Tunic
Blue: Zora Tunic
Yellow: when using The Great Fairy's Tears in Twilight Princess
Purple: one of his alts from Soul Caliber II
White: when wearing the Blue Ring from The Legend of Zelda
Black: Dark Link from Ocarina of Time; color scheme is identical to the Smash 4 variant
Grey: Fierce Deity Link from Majora's Mask; color scheme is identical to the Smash 4 variant

"Twilight Princess Pack" DLC alts:
Green: default
Red: Goron Tunic
Blue: Zora Tunic
Yellow: when using The Great Fairy's Tears in Twilight Princess
Black: Dark Link from Twilight Princess; color scheme is identical to the Brawl variant

Entrance: pulls out the Master Sword from the Master Pedestal before arming himself and the pedestal just...disappearing... Video game logic

Stage Highlight: Final Destination

Theme: Super Smash Bros.

Like Battlefield (as I mentioned last week), Final Destination is now unlocked from the beginning. It is a single flat platform for simple, but climactic, showdowns. The stage flies through space and time during the heat of battle, sometimes even traveling to computer dimensions. It truely is a marvel to stare at--just be sure you focus more on the fight. What bothered me the most about the one from the original is that I felt the lighting didn't match the mood of the stage, so I've changed it so it's more suspenseful. The stuff in the background has also been tweaked, and the pacing of scenes have been sped up to match that of more modern Final Destinations.

On a secondary note: Omega Stages return in this game. They can be switched to them by pressing X while on the stage selection screen.

New Trophy Highlight: Chibi-Robo

First appearance: Chibi-Robo!: Plug Into Adventure!

Trophy Description: Chibi-Robos are 4-inch robots whose only purpose is to help and serve other people. Because of their size, they're tasked to do basic chores like cleaning, which earns you Happy Points in the game. They also posess a propeller, a blaster, and other tools for tasks and self-defense. Be sure you look out for a red light; that's a sign that the Chibi-Robo is low on battery life, and needs to charge up in a wall plug.

Misc. Highlight: Alternate skins/costumes & Final Smashes

Not much can be said about either, so I've combined them both in one week. Like in Smash 4, all characters will have eight alternate colorations (excluding DLC), except this time, eight will only be the minimum amount of colorations for a character. I have updated the the first week's news with alts for Mario, so go check that out after reading this.

Did you know: Final Smashes were originally going to be in the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64? As evidence, there is an unused voice clip in the Sound Test of Ness shouting "PK Starstorm!" To fufill that concept, Final Smashes and the Smash Ball have been added to the game.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Super Smash Sundays! Please watch to stay updated with more. Until then, see ya'! ;)
